Arrayed Fiberoptics Corporation Announces High Return Loss 2D Fiber Arrays

Arrayed Fiberoptics Corporation Announces Low-Cost, High-Performance Epoxy-Free Fiber Arrays

PRODUCTS

Arrayed Fiberoptics products are based on our patented Vertical Fiber Integration (VFI) technology. Components are naturally fabricated in 1-D or 2-dimensional arrays, with inherent hermetic sealing. This breakthrough technology enables improvements in the following areas:

  • Performance
  • Cost
  • Size
  • Reliability
  • Integration
VFI technology is applicable to a wide variety of fiberoptic components. Examples of VFI components are shown below.

Component Description Typical Applications
Collimator, Focuser Arrays 1xN (linear) and NxM (2-D) collimator arrays provide <= 0.5 dB insertion loss over extended working distances. Collimators:
Optical switches, filters, VOAs, and other devices requiring multiple collimated beams.
Focusers:
Laser arrays, detector arrays, and other devices requiring multiple focused beams
Fiber Arrays 1xN (linear) and NxM (2-D) fiber arrays in standard, epoxy-free, or polarization-maintaining (PM) versions Coupling to planar waveguide circuits (PLCs) or array devices, such as AWGs, beam splitters, OADMs, optical cross-connect switches, microlens arrays, etc.
High Return Loss 2D Fiber Arrays Arrayed Fiberoptics' patented High Return Loss two-dimensional (HRL 2D) Fiber Arrays provide a means to couple fibers to optical switches and other array devices with very high return loss performance, which dramatically reduces back-reflection that can cause instability in lasers and other elements of an optical system. This high return-loss performance is achieved without any angle polish. Furthermore, these HRL 2D fiber arrays can handle much higher power than traditional fiber arrays.
